After a long time the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned under their slavery, and cried out. Out of the slavery their cry for help rose up to God. God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God looked upon the Israelites, and God took notice of them. () Think about that for a second.   Romans , "I ask, then, has God rejected his people?" That question is utterly pressing because of the preceding chapters and the preceding verse (Romans ), "But of Israel he says, 'All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.'".

But also, the characteristic of God's mercy is on display throughout the book as He perseveres with His people as He gives further opportunity for even his judges. Samson has been given a unique gift by God, a unique power and ability, yet Samson seems to throw this ability away. "The greatest story ever told" is more than just a cliché. God goes to great lengths to rescue lost and hurting people. That is what The Story is all about: the story of the Bible, God's great love affair with ed in 31 accessible chapters, The Story sweeps you into the unfolding progression of Bible characters and events from Genesis to Revelation/5(8).

Lehi experienced such a call: he pled with God for his people (1 Nephi ), ascended into the heavenly council (1 Nephi ), and learned of impending judgments of God against Jerusalem revealed to him in a heavenly book (1 Nephi ) How can the Book of Hebrews radically change Jeremiah’s prophecy to be understood that God had somehow “discarded” His covenant with Israel, when Scripture repeatedly states that God’s unique relationship with the Jewish people is bound in Heaven and can never be destroyed or amended?

For God and His People by Merle d Aubigne is a Christian biography about Ulrich Zwingli ( ) from Switzerland who struggled to reform the church according to the pure precepts of the Word of God.4/5(8).

As is this book. Perhaps people have read his critique of the LOA and The Da Vinci Code and were turned off by his criticisms. This book however, is where his passion really is; history; and it deserves a large audience.

I was a pastor for 10 years and as far as church history goes, this is probably the book I shared the most from.5/5(2). This is my review on the book Sanctification: God's Passion for His People () by John MacArthur. I was very excited when I read the book title because the sanctification of a believer is very much the goal of biblical counseling and discipleship/5.

This book helped me to get a broader understanding of the Bible as one continuous story of God’s creation and how he is redeeming his people.

I also feel that I have gained a much better understanding of the historical timeline and context of the Bible through reading this, especially the Old Testament/5. Deuteronomy - For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

King Benjamin tells the people that God gives them everything and He only asks them to obey His commandments. And when they keep the commandments, God. In other words, not only is God going to create a people for himself from all the nations of the world, but he is also going to purge and purify his people Israel (cf.

John ). He will eliminate the proud and he will keep for himself a humble and lowly people. Chapter 26 is all about praising God for his sovereign care over His people. The ESV Study Bible points out the prophetic nature of Isaiah’s words that “ the time perspective in ch.

God punishes people today, but the greatest punishment will come after people die and end up in the Lake of Fire. Here is an example of God punishing people in the past. In Jeremiah God states that punisment will come because of “the evil of their deeds” and it did.

That is, these folks were defiant and disobeyed God. The book of Job deals with the issue of why God allows bad things to happen to good people. Job was a righteous man (Job ), yet he suffered in ways that are almost beyond belief. God allowed Satan to do everything he wanted to Job except kill him, and Satan did his worst.

God promised to exile His people from their land if they turned from Him, and now Jerusalem’s time has come. The Babylonians will destroy the city, raze the holy temple, and carry the Jews away.

But even as the Lord plans Jerusalem’s destruction, He sends his people a. 4, 5. (a) Why do we need to be clean. (b) What does creation teach us about how Jehovah views cleanness. 4 We learn to be clean and pure from Jehovah’s own example. (Leviticus45) So the main reason we need to be clean is that we want to be “imitators of God.” —Ephesians 5 Creation teaches us much about how Jehovah views cleanness.

Ideas for Personal Scripture Study. 2 Nephi 6–8. The Lord is merciful to His people and will fulfill His promises. To help his people understand that they were part of the house of Israel and could trust God and His promises, Jacob quoted prophecies of Isaiah, recorded in 2 Nephi 6– described the scattering of Israel and the Savior’s promised gathering and redemption of His people.

Walking With God and His People was written by teachers, for teachers. The Cup of Wrath 21 Therefore now hear this, you afflicted one, drunken, but not with wine.

22 Thus says your Lord, the LORD, even your God, who defends His people: “See, I have removed the cup of staggering from your hand; from that goblet, the cup of My fury, you will never drink again.

23 I will place it in the hands of your tormentors, who told you: ‘Lie down, so we can walk over. 40 Days: God's Health Principles for His Last-Day People Book 3. In this volume Dennis smith invites you to spend 40 days continuing the work God has given you while exploring a wholistic view of health.

God Keeps His People. God is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy.

Be confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Encourage God’s People - Our God has said: “Encourage my people.

Give them comfort. Speak kindly to Jerusalem and announce: Your slavery is past; your punishment is over. I, the LORD, made you pay double for your sins.” Someone is shouting: “Clear a path in the desert. Make a straight road for the LORD our God.

Fill in the valleys; flatten every hill and mountain. Level the rough and. Exodus - Then Moses said to the Lord, “See, You say to me, ‘Bring up this people!’ But You Yourself have not let me know whom You will send with me.

Moreover, You have said, ‘I have known you by name, and you have also found favor in My sight.’. The Story of God and His people “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”. These 10 words at the very beginning of the Bible are almost identical in practically every Author: Raphael Giglio.

The relationship of God to His people is more than His calling; they also call Him their God. David says, “I know, my God, that you test the heart and are pleased with integrity.

All these things have I given willingly and with honest intent. Thus, Abinadi taught of Jesus Christ when he said, “God himself shall come down among the children of men, and shall redeem his people” (Mosiah ; see also Mosiah –28). Abinadi’s teachings in Mosiah –9 refer to Jesus’ Fatherly roles and to His roles as the Son of God.
